We The People acquired by the Smithsonian Institution! / by Rico Shino

I'm honored to announce that my photojournalism/ oral history project We The People: The Citizens of NYCHA in Pictures + Words has been acquired by the Smithsonian Institution. The collection will be archived at the Smithsonian's Anacostia Community Museum location in Washington, DC. My creative partner Shino Yanagawa and I are elated that these photos and oral histories will live on in the Smithsonian's vast permanent collection. Our main goal upon inception of the project was to provide a platform for voices to echo into spaces they'd been long been ignored by. Now their stories are permanently etched into the annals of history and will perpetually debunk the myth for generations to come.
